Empower
Action for Youth Foundation Trust implements various projects that supports capacity building, health and well-being for young people. Currently, the organization is implementing HIV & Psycho-Social Support Project, Brighter Future Child Protection Project, Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Education for Youth in Tertiary Education & HIV Hot-Spot Areas (SHARE4YTE), Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives (ESP4Y+) and the Youth2Youth Digital Health Model.
HIV & PSS Project
About the Project
HIV & Psychosocial Support Project creates a safe and conducive environment where Young People Living with HIV gather and receive capacity building from peers, health care workers and experienced professionals. It seeks to reduce vulnerability in YPLWHIV by boosting confidence through knowledge and empowerment programs.
Project Activities
Activity 1.0: Group Safe Space Meetings
These are monthly capacity building meetings that young people living with HIV conducts across 14 supported health facilities. These sessions are led by Peer Counselors supported by the Health Care Workers and trained mentors from Action for Youth Foundation Trust.
Activity 1.1: TB Screening
Our team conducts TB screening to the participants using AYFT Community Based TB Screening tool and refer to the CATS for further linkages to TB services.
Activity 1.2: Parents & Caregiver’s Training on HIV Primary Disclosure
To strengthen family support and HIV Primary Disclosure, Action for Youth Foundation Trust in partnership with 14 Health Care Centers and the National AIDS Council of Zimbabwe conducts HIV Primary Disclosure Training Sessions for Parents & Caregivers every quarter.
Activity 1.3: Supporting HIV Primary Disclosure Process
In partnership with the Health Care Workers, we support HIV Primary Disclosure process by strengthening communication between the parent/caregiver an the child receiving disclosure.
Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives (ESP4Y+) Project
About the Project
Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives (ESP4Y+) Project enhances the economic resilience and self-reliance of out-of-school, unemployed Youth Living with HIV in Harare Province by providing sustainable income- generating opportunities through skills training and start-up support.
The project is for and led by youth living with HIV implemented by Action for Youth Foundation Trust with funding support from Saving African Families Enterprise (SAFE).
