Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives (ESP4Y+) Project

Funded by Saving African Families Enterprise (SAFE), the ESP4Y+ Project is an innovative program designed to provide life skills and economic resilience to Youth Living with HIV complimenting the HIV & Psycho-Social Support Project. Skills provided under this project are not limited to cleaning detergents manufacturing, computer literacy skills, basic financial literacy skills, sewing, braiding, weaving etc. The organization primarily works with local health facilities, the National AIDS Council and the funder for the effective project implementation. In 2025 the project in its pilot phase managed to train 57 Youths across all five supported health facilities on Basic Financial Management Skills and Dishwasher Making. The participants received start-up kits and 52 managed to sustain their small scale businesses.

Creating sustainable livelihoods for Young People Living with HIV as a way to fight HIV Stigma & Discrimination.

Basic Financial Management Training

57 Youths Living with HIV from five health facilities received Basic Financial Literacy Training. This training provides practical knowledge on managing small-scale business for sustainable livelihoods.

Practical Dishwasher Making Training

57 Youths Living with HIV who were part of the pilot phase received hands on dishwasher manufacturing training. This training provides life skills and chances for employability.

Start-up kits Provision

A total of 24 Bottles of Dishwasher Liquid was given to the participants as their start-ups for sell. The cost of 1 bottle of the quality dishwasher was sold at US$1 each.

Mentorship & Follow UPs

On-going follow-ups, mentorships were conducted by Action for Youth Foundation Trust staff in collaboration with CATS and Health Care Workers. A total of 52 participants managed to sustain their small-scale businesses.

Action for Youth Foundation Trust recorded 91% successes rate from this project’s pilot phase and we are looking forward to scale up to reach more youths living with HIV.
